To use personal, biographical references or thinking limits me in my art practice. What I seek is an state of openness to what is taking place without being restricted to my personal choice. I want something fresh, something new, something out of the box to evolve.

A way to do this is to use images that I (in advance) don’t know anything about. The internet is a space where such motifs can be found without knowing what to expect. By using a random method (for selecting images) and a painterly transfer method (where the painting is upside down) my commitment is reduced to presence and execution.

On the basis of these premises all I have to do is to be there and do the doing. Something happens in the transfer/painting practice, a timely factor of errors, unfocus and lapses which adds an extra aspect to the work. You could see it as totally meaningless (the nihilistic view) OR with a hidden meaning (the deterministic view). This makes it a very thrilling practice even if the sender and meaning is unclear - even to myself.

On show: paintings made up of 3 images each - blended together in Photoshop. The images are picked from image searches on Google based on the words : souvenir, futures, transition.
